Bob gave a presentation at Guildex, Telford in 2011, illustrating the types of valve gear in common use on British locomotives. He also explained the construction of Walschaerts valve gear on a locomotive, using his own techniques, with photographs and diagrams of every stage. This presentation was given as a slide show, with a commentary by Bob himself. The video programme replicates the slideshow, with slides appearing on screen synchronised to the commentary. Of course slides may be studied for longer, by simply using the 'pause' button. This programme may be helpful to those who are nervous about undertaking the construction of valve gear.
