Some time ago, based on an article in Model Railway Journal No.132, I built a pair of ex LNER Hytwin Bolster Wagons using two Parkside LNER 7 Plank end door wagon kits. I was unable to make contact with the supplier of transfers mentioned in the article and as there was nothing else suitable they were put away for another day.

I recently completed a couple of Slaters Bulk Alumina wagons (Kit 7042A) and unfortunately, suitable transfers again drew a blank. Like the Hytwins, a good bit of very small lettering was required.

I have used Fox Transfers for many years with great success, and remembering the old saying ‘if you don’t ask you will never know’ I approached them regarding the production of suitable transfers for the completed wagons.

Much to my delight, they were not only responsive but very helpful, and it was agreed that if I did the artwork in a format they could use and they could include the transfers in their standard range once finished, they would produce them for me at what I considered a very reasonable cost. These two sets of transfers are now available as follows:

Fox Transfer sheet FRH7394 covering LNER (no NE branding) and BR (pre tops) eras. Each sheet will do one NE and/or one BR pair, cost £7;

Fox Transfer sheet FRH7894 covering LNER (no NE branding) and BR (pre tops) eras. Each sheet will do one NE and/or one BR wagon and again the cost is £7.

In both cases, known running numbers are ready made up in addition to a full set of individual numbers.

As with all my previous experiences with Fox Transfers products, the results are superb and both sheets can be highly recommended. I have no connection whatsoever with Fox Transfers, other than a very satisfied customer.
