Last year I started a small layout / Diorama based on the English portal of Severn Tunnel. It's 8 foot long X 4 foot wide on two 4 foot square boards. It will be appearing in Model Rail some time this year. It was very enjoyable to build and I will be offering it for sale shortly. The diesels are all super detailed Heljan models using castings from JLTRT & Etch parts from Pete Harvey

My latest project is to build and paint this superb laser cut kit by Intentio designs for a friend of mine. These are fabulous kits. I will paint most of the interior before assembly.

I commissioned Narrow planet to make these signal box plates. They are now part of their range. The signal box was also a commission from Intentio designs.

I'm also working on a Heljan class 37 well 68er as they were known to western men at this time.
I've removed the moulded on pipe runs on the bogies and replaced with 0.5mm wire, I've added Pete Harvey etch Timken covers and etch steps. I'm just waiting on some castings from JLTRT to finish it off.
Severn Mill works plates and shed code plates complete.

Very Nearly finished now, glazing completed today, A few paint touch ups I've noticed plus I have some replacement ornate roof brackets coming. Should be ready to deliver at next weeks NEWGOG show.

. mortar courses. I use acrylic for this, This one is cream 103 from humbrol. But I do use others depending on what I want.
First brush it on working it in to the mortar courses, then using tissue rub it away in a down ward motion. Once most is wiped away, buff the area with some clean tissue. For any recesses and corners use a smaller brush with some water to dilute it.
Ideally I would pre paint as many parts as I can separately

Slightly out of order but today completed the sectional warehouse, once the mortar courses are added I dry brush the blue engineers to highlight those bricks and use a fine scalpel to remove any build up of paint in the corners. Then 10 minutes with a flat brush and dry brushing some Matt black & finally the doors and windows.

I decided to tone the signal box down a little today, First of all I redid the mortar then dry brushed some Matt black in to it. It looks more like the brick buildings I've done for Ranelagh bridge now.
