Set in the Eastern Counties, the layout depicts a large goods yard together with two MPDs – an old steam shed, and a diesel refuelling point to service the fleet of shunters and visiting locos. Since the village of Gosfield was never served by a railway, a certain amount of artistic licence has been exercised, and various eras may be depicted, from the time of the Big Four up to the late sixties and the end of steam. The layout has been derived from a part of Gosfield Junction. Members of the O Section felt that the full layout was only conducive to very large shows, this smaller version has made it easier for smaller shows or limited transport costs. It features a goods yard with stabling and refuelling facilities for both steam, diesels and frieght stock. It is set in the period leading up to the end of steam in 1967 allowing a good range of traffic and its location is fictional within the North Essex area at the end of a branch line. The layout is 10 meters long and 1 meter wide approximately, DCC and DC operation. We welcome invitations from show organisers.
