The Clubs first venture into a special commission of private owner Dapol wagons went well. Initial enthusiasm from almost all club members took care of all the 0 Gauge and about 75% of the 00 and N productions. The Club purchased the remainder outright and these will filter out to club friends and guests over the next few months. Thoughts are already leaning towards a similar production for 2017. Key to any order will be the demand from members - if insufficient therell not be an order.
When you read this the 7th Swansea Railway Show will have taken place at The National Waterfront Museum on 1st / 2nd October. This years effort was more professional with the organising committee starting work earlier on the show and securing more of the bigger names on the exhibition circuit who complemented the smaller, local players with whom the Club would always wish to deal. Committee members also spent considerable time and effort at the show talking to visitors as this has profitably boosted membership in past shows. Early indications are that there will be new members joining again this year.
Swanseas close proximity to Gower and adjacent attractive beaches provides a certain amount of summertime distraction for the families of some members. The Club experiences a fall-off in attendances during parts of July and August so affairs merely tick along with everyone bounding back, rejuvenated, in September when school starts once more.
The Club has been offered 2 different collections for sale and the volume of stock arriving is requiring us to establish regular sales to cater for members and these collections.
If youre in Swansea wed love to see you - bring some stock along to run if you like - and I welcome your call on 0775 895054 to discuss things further.
