Description: A loop and hook system.

Method of operation: Each vehicle is equipped with a hook and loop at one end and a hook with a latch at the other. The vehicles are brought together, the loop of one vehicle passing over the hook on the other to couple. To uncouple the tension between the vehicles is released and the magnetic dropper on the loop is depressed lifting it out of the opposite hook. When the dropper is released the loop falls back but the latch on the opposing hook prevents it re-engaging. The vehicles can then be propelled to another point. To re-couple the vehicles after separation the uncoupled vehicles are brought together and the loop engages the opposing hook again.

Uncoupling device: An electro magnet at selected points in track.

Modifications to stock: No modifications to stock are required. The hooks fit into the normal coupling pocket. For bogie stock then a modification is offered to whereby the hooks are mounted on the bogie.

Fitting common to all stock?: The coupling is paired across stock.

Compatibility with scale couplings: This system is compatible with scale couplings on non-fitted stock.

Minimum recommended operating radius: The minimum recommended radius quoted in the instructions is 4ft 6in.

Instructions: A comprehensive illustrated set of instructions is supplied with each etch set.

Other Comments: The hook mechanisms contain a number of moving components and need care with the assembly. As the hook position is directly related to the protrusion of the buffers there are alternate lengths of hook supplied. Suitable electro magnets with fitting instructions can be supplied Although nominally a single direction coupling instructions are given for a modification for locomotives that are turned. It notes that this modification may not be as reliable as the normal set up.
