I recently needed a few sets of wagon wheels and discovered that Roxey Mouldings, of Walton on Thames, were selling
wheelsets produced by Markits that fitted the bill nicely.
They’re very well produced, fully insulated, machined diecast
metal wheels mounted on stainless steel pinpoint axles,
blister packed with pin point bearings for good running.
The Markits range of wheels covers the following examples;
The axle length is 48mm with pin point bearing ends which combined with the higher weight per axle should ensure free running vehicles and bogies. The tread width is 3.9mm. and the back to back is 29mm. Another advantage is in the detailing. The centres are blackened metal and look very convincing. They certainly are worth looking at for their discerning appearance and weight. See web link for current price of a set of four wheels on two axles complete with bearings. I have no commercial interest in this product other than I like the product.
