10:00-11:00 | Building a coach Nigel will be discussing his latest project to construct a rake of five North Eastern Railway clerestory coaches. The coaches are based on the Poppy’s Woodtech range of kits but will include a lot of extras based on the construction methods used by the Keighley 7mm Group for the rolling stock used on their Ravensbeck and Runswick Bay layouts. The morning session will cover the construction and assembly of the wooden coach body, construction of the brass underframe, bogies, etc. These are open presentations designed to encourage questions and discussion during the session. 11:00-12:00 | Poppy's Woodtech Anthony will be telling us about some recent developments, including the ballast brake van, which he's excited about. There will be an opportunity to ask about the Loco Builder Box and the spring and beam compensation. The small goods shed is available and shows how simple it can be to build popular structures. 12:15-12:45 | 🤝 Constituency Representatives in the North Talk to three of our Constituency Representatives about their role, and find out how they try to help new members, liaise with local clubs and local exhibitions. This is an ideal opportunity to also suggest ways in which you would like the representatives to communicate with you and for you. 13:00-14:00 | Building a coach Continuing with the morning session, Nigel will now cover how he will add detail to enhance the look of his rake of Poppy’s Woodtech clerestory coaches. He will discuss some of the modelling techniques used to achieve this whilst ensuring they remain robustly constructed. If time permits he will discuss how CAD and 3D printing can create superb detail that would otherwise be difficult to reproduce in a scratch built model.
