Thread and Forum Title Heljan Railbus (re fitting DCC module problem)

Prepared by Steve Luck Originator Milner23191

I have recently purchased a Heljan Railbus and gave it the recommended 30 minute run at medium speed to check for free running. All seemed ok, but the motor was fairly warm. I assume that this is normal.

I then fitted a DCC module as per instructions, but when the cab control was turned on the module could not be read (according to the display on the controller). I refitted the dummy module and the Railbus runs as normal. The DCC module was then fitted to another locomotive (Dapol 08) and all worked properly, when the module was refitted to the Railbus it could not be read again.

A local modeller sent photos of the circuit board of his Railbus, it was apparent that 2 of the plugs on my unit had been swapped over. I don't know if it was during manufacture, or the loco had been “serviced” at the shop. The box for the loco did have a “CHECKED & TESTED” sticker on it.

Anyhow, the Railbus runs well in both directions and there is no apparent damage to the DCC Module.
